Our 25th Anniversary Retreat is Next Week!

group_2001It's hard to believe that it was 25 years ago that Steve and Sharon Schell talked with my wife Druci and me about doing a "silent" retreat out at Fort Flager. We certainly had no intention at the time of making it a twice-yearly event for the next 25 years of our lives!

How is that possible? The obvious answer is that it was a God-thing. The Lord has been so present at each and every ALR from the beginning, that it keeps us -- and many others -- coming back year after year. I think another factor in the longevity of this retreat is its simplicity. We haven't tried to make it anything more than what God intended from the beginning -- a simple facility in a beautiful setting for the purpose of meeting with Him. This reatreat has no special speaker, no activities, no classes, no seminars, no workshops. We come, and we enjoy His presence. Of course, the great food helps too!

So even though this Fall is our 25th anniversary retreat, we're not planning anything special. It will be simple and uncluttered, just like all the others have been. We're all looking forward to it, the regulars like Steve, Sharon, Gary, Diana, Gail, Lance, Druci and myself, and the newcomers, some who'll be experiencing ALR for the first time. We're all anticipating some quality time with each other, and most importantly, with the Holy Spirit.

Join us for ALR this Spring

Hey there- What a great update Rick, I didn't read it until tonight and you didn't say anything to give me a hint, well done friend! Your written "voice" is genuine and captures the spirit of the retreat wonderfully, makes me want to start...

Hey, Steve. Thanks for the encouragement. You and Sharon have been such a blessing in our lives -- a true treasure. And ALR - I believe - brings great joy to God's heart. BTW, you should consider posting to this blog. Let me know if you'd like...
