"What? Discussion times? I thought this was a silent retreat!"

It's true that silence and solitude are the key elements of this retreat, but we've found that an important aspect of the ALR experience is in sharing with others what God has revealed during your quiet time.

And often, the Lord will use another believer to confirm or strengthen what He speaks to us in the silence -- this is an important aspect of hearing God's voice and discerning His will.

Participation certainly isn't mandatory, but it's highly recommended. You will benefit much more from your experience at ALR if you are open to sharing and receiving from others.

To facilitate this, we encourage discussion at your tables during meals, (we'll assign a facilitator at each table -- someone who's been to ALR before and has experience in leading discussions) and in the afternoon on Saturday we organize men's and women's small groups. bugalr

mensgroupSaturday before dinner we divide into men's and women's small groups -- this is a great time to get to know each other and to share about what God has shown us during our quiet time.
